We learned about their main needs and problems in the process of resocialization.

Before the start of the initiative, we conducted a research-survey with the Volnyja to find out what their needs are after their release.

The data are based on the results of 39 responses to the survey, where each Volnyja could choose several answer options at the same time.

The most difficult thing for the Volnyja after liberation was:

Lack of finances – 76%,

Employment – 56%,

Emigration – 51%,

Legalization in a new country – 25%,

Emigration of relatives – 8%,

Education – 8%.

What help do the Volnyja need most?

Financial support – 82%,

Emigration – 54%,

Employment – 49%,

Medical assistance – 44%,

Legalization abroad – 41%,

Legal aid – 36%,

Search for temporary housing – 33%,

Psychological help – 18%,

Migration of in-laws – 15%,

University education – 13%,

Language courses – 13%.

Who helps Volnyja to socialize after release?

Relatives – 72%,

Friends – 67%,

NGOS – 49%,

Society – 26%,

Psychologist – 15%,

Work – 3%.

Where were Volnyja at the time of the survey?

7 – in Belarus (18%), 32 – abroad (82%). And at least 1 Volnyja from those who were in Belarus planned to leave.

Volnyja initiative has been working for the fourth week.

During this time 18 Volnyja and 28 mentors contacted us.

We are now doing everything we can to provide Volnyja with the resources they need to live a quality life.
