About us / Volnyja

After release, life goes on.

We help former political prisoners of Belarus adapt to life in freedom. We connect people who need support with those ready to help.

Our mission
«Our mission is to help former political prisoners of Belarus return to a full life in society — in any country.»

What do we do?

We find a mentor for every one of the Volnyja who asks us for help.

Someone close by

We match a mentor so that each of the Volnyja has personal support.

Alongside through adaptation

The mentor goes with the person through every stage of adapting to a new life.

We prepare our mentors

Our mentors complete special training from the initiative and have access to psychological support.

Our tasks

Support for one person. Change for many.

Person

Help with adaptation

Supporting one of the Volnyja widens solidarity. Today you support them; tomorrow they will support others.

Programme

Grow sustainable support

We are building quality public infrastructure for the adaptation and resocialisation of Belarusian political prisoners — and changing how the sector works.

Community

Unite organisations and people

We help different projects for political prisoners — and not only for them — work together, and give people who want to help the chance and the support to do it.

Open about our work

Behind every number — a person’s life.

We want Volnyja’s work to be transparent and easy to understand. Our reports hold the figures, the facts and the main areas of help, and we update them regularly.
